High Definition BBC and ITV for free via satellite If High Definition TV services from Sky seem too expensive then you may be interested in the freesat service developed by the BBC and ITV. The free satellite service became available all over the UK from 6th May 2008 and is the satellite equivalent of the Freeview terrestrial TV service, but with the added bonus of High Definition content from the BBC and ITV. At the time of writing Freeview is available to only 73% of the population in the UK and this means you are missing out if you live in a low (or no) signal area.
